ZANNA

CATEGORY: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane D.O.C.G. Riserva.
ORIGIN:

On the hills sloping down to the Adriatic Sea, at the right of the Tronto river and at an altitude of 287 metres a.s.l. in the commune od Controguerra, in a very mild climate with fresh breeze, stretches the Zanna vineyard, from which the homonymous wine is produced.

SUBSOIL COMPOSITION: On a scarcely porous soil of marly origin and with significant amounts of clay, survives the very ancient vineyard of red fruit.
GRAPE VARIETALS: Montepulciano 100%.
TRAINING TECHNIQUES:

The Zanna vineyard was among the first ones to be planted on the farm and it is trained in the "tendone" system (high trellis supported by crossed wires) with about 1,100 vines per hectare. We have recently realized new training systems of counter-espalier with a density of 5,000 per hectare.

TIME OF
HARVESTING AND VINIFICATION:

The Zanna vineyard is among the last one to be harvested, after a strong pruning and a meticulous selection of the grapes; it is only produced in the best vintages. Grapes are stemmed, crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a temperature lower than 30° C. Once the malolactic fermentation is over, the wine is poured in 25 hectolitres barrels of Slavonian oak where it settles for about 24-25 months.

STYLE: Colour: intense red ruby, tends to garnet red as it ages.
Nose: reminiscent of blackberries, recalls fruits and dried flowers with tendency to ethereal.
Flavour: of great substance, mellow tannins, velvety and elegant for exhilarating encounters with savoury sauces.
SERVING:

It shows its finest qualities with red meats, game, truffle, mature cheese and blue cheese such as Gorgonzola.

ANALYTICAL DATA: Alcohol 13.50% vol. - Total Acidity 5.50 g/l.
