ORIGIN:

The vineyards are in the commune of Controguerra at 260 metres a.s.l.

SUBSOIL COMPOSITION: Medium-textured soil, tending to clayey.
GRAPE VARIETALS: Montepulciano 100%.
TRAINING TECHNIQUES:

The vineyards are trained in the "tendone" system (3m x 3m) (high trellis supported by crossed wires) with a consequent density of 1,100 per hectare, on a hilly position.

TIME OF HARVESTING AND VINIFICATION:

Grapes are usually harvested in early October, and, after an accurate selection, are stemmed, crushed and processed following the traditional "red" wine-making method with a long maceration of the skins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 28°C. Once the malolactic fermentation is over, the wine is aged in 25-hectolitres barrels of Slavonian oak for about 9-10 months, then bottled and cellared for another 3-4 months before release.

STYLE: Colour: red ruby with violet, highlights when young.
Nose: red fruits, pleasant and persistent
Flavour: it well fills the mouth, on the palate is deep, full, round and harmonious, it lingers with a hint of liquorice at the end.
SERVING:

It is a great accompaniment to roasted or braised red meats, game, poultry, semi-matured cheese; ideal with lamb and kid.
